Emeritus Professor Chris Fell, The University of New South Wales
Emeritus Professor Chris Fell, a chemical engineer by training, first joined UNSW in 1970. He held a variety of positions during his 30 years with the University, including Dean of Engineering and Director of the Commonwealth Special Research Centre for Membrane Science and Technology. He was also founding Chair of the CRC for Waste Management and Pollution Control and co-inventor of the technology that led to the formation of the high tech membrane company, Memtec Ltd which was subsequently acquired for US $400m. He retired from UNSW in December 2000. Professor Fell is currently president of the Federation of Australian Scientific and Technological Society. He is honoured with an AM in recognition of his services to engineering and to higher education.
